Least developed countries

(LDCs) The world’s poorer countries.

In Africa, 33 countries are classified as least developed countries: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia.

In the Americas, there is 1 country that is classified as a least developed country: Haiti.

In Asia, 9 countries are classified as least developed countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, East Timor, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Yemen.

In Oceania, 3 countries are classified as least developed countries: Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu.

Delisted countries are Botswana (graduated from LDC status in 1994), Cape Verde (graduated in 2007), Maldives (graduated in 2011), Samoa (graduated in 2014), Equatorial Guinea (graduated in 2017), Vanuatu (graduated in 2020).
