The Gulf of Mexico is the no. 10th contiguous open water surface on earth. It has a huge, 615 square mile (1,592,800 square km) area and 4,874 square feet (1,486 square meters) average depth. The Gulf of Mexico’s greatest known depth is 12,425 feet (3,787 meters), which can be found at Sigsbee Deep.
